Coffee Jam
This jam is a unique blend of sweet, juicy cherries and the deep, aromatic character of coffee. Perfect on fresh bread, as a sophisticated accompaniment to cheese, or as an extravagant filling for pastries. Let yourself be tempted by this delicious creation that redefines traditional jam.
Ingredients:
500 g fresh cherries, pitted and halved
250 g jam sugar (1:2)
100 ml of strong, fresh coffee (preferably espresso)
Juice of half a lemon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Preparation:
Prepare the cherries: Pit the cherries and cut them in half. This is the most time-consuming part, but it's worth the effort for the final result.
Simmer the cherries: Place the cherries and the jam sugar in a large pot and let the mixture simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Add coffee: As soon as the cherries start to release their juice, add the fresh coffee. The coffee gives the jam a rich, deep flavor.
Seasoning: Add the lemon juice to balance out the sweetness and enhance the flavor of the jam. If you'd like, you can also add vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Cooking: Let the mixture simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until it reaches the desired consistency. Stirring regularly prevents it from burning. If you don't want whole cherries, puree the mixture with a blender.
Glasses Preparation: Fill a large pot with water, place the jars in the pot, and bring the water to a rolling boil. Now the jars are ready for filling.
Filling: Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars. Seal them and turn them upside down to cool.
Your cherry-coffee jam is ready to enjoy and to surprise your friends with! It also makes a great little gift.
